I saw this thread on Twitter where someone said, “Nobody airs like God” while reading this over my bowl of cereal the spirit spoke to me. Now I write.
“TO AIR” is a slang word which means to ignore or blank someone.
So does God air? Does He ignore your prayer requests? Do you feel like He is punishing you ? Do you feel like you’re being passed over by opportunities?
From what I understand which I have derived from studying the behavior of our Heavenly Father, He doesn’t air, He’s just silent.
People tend to misunderstand the two. Being silent is different from ignoring. God doesn’t ignore His children, and He certainly hears our every cry.
Now there are 3 reasons why it may seem as though God is airing you. They're Faith test, Change of heart & Time.
FAITH TEST
I would start this off with an example from the Bible. Ever heard of the Gentile woman? Well you’re in luck I’m about to tell the story. (Matthew 15:21-28) A woman who was from Canaan came to Jesus pleading that He saves her daughter who was possessed by a demon. 21 She called out to him pleading;
“ Have mercy on me, O lord king David’s son! For my daughter has a demon possessing her, and it torments her constantly.” 22
Jesus did not say a word. 23
Like He legit didn’t say anything. Not a damn word I’m telling you. 😭 So would you say he aired her ? 🤔
His disciples came to him and urged him, send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.’ 24
Jesus then said to the woman, “I was sent only to help God’s lost sheep—the people of Israel.
Wahala for who no be God’s lost sheep oh. 😭💔
Now you see that He answered her, meaning He didn’t air her at first, He was just silent but let’s continue.
The woman didn’t relent, she came and worshiped him, begging again, “Lord, help me!” 25
Jesus responded, “it isn’t right to take food from the children and throw it to the dogs.” 😱💀 26
Wait a minute, whatttttt????? Did He just refer to her as a dog ? 😳
Honestly I had my mouth open staring at that verse in the Bible for a good minute. Now watch what she said;
“Yes it is, Lord, even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from the masters table.” 27
Then Jesus said to her, Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted. Instantly her daughter was healed. 28
Damn!! that was quite the read. Silence is being quiet in the moment but providing an answer during the period of time it is needed. Ignoring is not providing an answer during the period of time it is needed. Sometimes, God is just trying to test your faith. How well do you trust Him? How well do you believe He’s able ? Don’t loose faith because He is silent, He is watching you. Like the Canaanite woman continue to disturb the man of Galilee oh. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says it best,
"pray without ceasing."
Pray without ceasing, many of us stop praying when He is silent.
God’s silence is for you to grow to trust him, to believe that regardless of the different seasons of life our God remains the same.
This waiting should build your faith not destroy it. Yes waiting sucks and waiting can make the promise look like a lie. But the waiting is where the promise takes shape. Sometimes when you’re waiting things get worse, situations become unbearable but don’t give up remain on faith street. (see link below to read article on Faith Street)
If you are finding that the waiting is causing you to harden your heart or to pull away from the presence of our Heavenly Father, I encourage you to examine your thoughts and beliefs about Jehovahs character from the scriptures. The God described in (Psalm 37:25 & Isaiah 55:9-11) is not ignoring you.
CHANGE OF HEART
When you feel like God is airing and the promise is being placed in others hands but yours. You feel you’re deserving of this and cannot fathom why it feels like you’re being ignored or abandoned. You feel like you need God now and He’s behaving like He doesn’t know you 😭😫.
There’s something you need to change about yourself and your life. He needs you to listen and be obedient. If we are doing things we should not be doing, and are disobeying Him, we cannot expect Him to answer our prayers. So therefore He would be silent until you make that turn around.
It may be to help someone, change an attitude, let go off something or someone. Or refusing to forgive others who have wronged us, God cannot hear us. (See Matthew 6:12 and Ephesians 4:32). And no it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re a sinner and your sins are causing the hindrance although that could be the case. He cannot answer our prayers if we have sins in our lives that are unconfessed or if we are hanging on to cherished sins.
God would be silent. So take stock of your life and figure out where and where needs adjustment.
The Bible says;
“No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.”
Psalm 84:11
Are you walking uprightly? Is your life not only obedient, but surrendered to Him? If not, God may be withholding or refusing to acknowledge your prayers to get you back in line with His will and purposes. I myself have experienced this and quite recently I tell you. God put my life on pause until I listened and changed my heart. He wasn’t messing around. I could honestly hear him say you would do the right thing one way or the other. 😫
TIME
There’s a time for everything just like the Bible says in Ecclesiastes 3:1-22. God has set a time, we just don’t know the time only Jehovah does. It’s like a calendar you’ve created with sticky notes on dates for certain activities to take place. That’s the same way God has your name on dates for certain events to occur. The Almighty God has a plan for our lives. He also calls His plan good in Jeremiah 29:11
God has plans for you. He knew the span of your life before you were formed in your mother’s womb. His plans would be made manifest in due time. Don’t second-guess Him. His timing is always better than yours. When we are in the place of waiting on the manifestation of our promises, it can feel as if God has abandoned us, or even as if He is punishing us, but none of this is so.
Why not trust ? God is simply asking why we lost hope in the miracle because of it? Why we’ve falsely believed that because we can’t see the sun and stars today, that somehow that means they no longer exist at all?
Today God is asking us to take hold of the prayer we’ve given up praying, and to believe for the miracle it would be that His redemption and the fulfillment of that prayer is right around the corner.
WHAT TO DO WHEN GOD IS SILENT
Trust and patience is all we need to work with the Lord. Trust him fully, believing that he would show up for you. We often make the mistake of relying on our wisdom and what we think we know and how a certain thing should take place. You may not see a way but the Lord has a way.
Rely on the wisdom of the most high who created you and not yours. The holy Bible says,
"For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
-Isaiah 55:9
God isn’t taken by surprise by your problem, he isn’t afraid of that which troubles you, neither is he confused on how to tackle your issue. He is in control.Trust in his timing.
Fretting and worrying doesn’t help, it’s in-fact useless. The Bible says,
And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?
Matthew 6:27
Remain on faith street trusting that God would fulfill his promise and do abundantly and exceedingly over all we dare to ask. The most High God is on your side nothing can defeat you. God sees you, and knows exactly what He is doing.
