LET IT GO!

Updated: May 23, 2020

I honestly started this post without a title because I was uncertain what to name it but I think it turned out pretty well. I know it’s been long, I have had a lot on my plate but I’d drop this here and be back in another 10months, (jokes).

I honestly don’t know who this post is for, it could be for you, a friend or someone you know. But I pray through our Lord Jesus that it meets the right person.

Every single one of us has a destiny here on earth to fulfill. We’re all created for different purposes and have our own different journeys. We are all created for our own specific and unique purposes.

I want you to understand that because as we get deeper you’d need to make reference to this.

Have you ever felt stuck ? Confused ? like your life isn’t moving forward ? Backwardness? We feel like something is blocking or stoping us from attaining our goals and being happy. It could be career, business, marriage, friendships, relationships etc..... Things begin to fall apart and there’s friction in places peace used to live. And often times you hear people say, “it’s my village people”.

It may be “you”, yes you and something that you’re doing wrong. And I’m going to speak specifically on trying to carry others along. Everything in our lives happen for a particular reason, to learn or to teach us something. There are temporary people and the one‘s that are for a lifetime. But often times we try to make temporary people or things permanent. And these people or things were created by God to come into your life for a short term and not forever.

Sweetheart, it may be that friend you’ve known for a long time or that significant other that you really love and thought was your missing rib or even a place where you work that you thought would be your final point. But that’s not God’s final point for you. Carrying other people who are not part of where God is leading you slows down blessings in your life. Therefore, God allows friction and strife to happen as a sign to show you that this isn’t meant to be. And this doesn’t mean that who you’re with may be evil or an unrighteous person, it just simply means your journey together has come to an end and it’s time to move.

An example in the Bible is Abraham and Lot. For some reason Abraham took Lot along with him and when they had arrived, the land couldn’t sustain both he and Lot, all their flocks and herds, their shepherds started arguing there was strife and division. So then Abraham begged Lot for them to separate and finally Lot left. Then God said to Abraham look around all the land that you see, I will give it to you. (Genesis 13)

It’s interesting that God did not speak until Lot left. Everything was held up until Lot moved on. I don’t think Lot was supposed to go with Abraham, I believe he was suppose to have left Lot and Lot lingering around was a hindrance. There‘s something God wants to do but he’s waiting on you to get rid of something you’re holding on to, something you’re clenched up to that’s outside God’s will. It may be the job you say it’s your dream job or the boyfriend you say is the love of your life, the husband/wife that you’re married to or that family member that is constantly pulling you back, you name it. Abraham did what he was supposed to do which was letting Lot go. Then he stepped into the fullness of his blessings.

Another biblical example is Jonah, yes Jonah, are you surprised ?

When Jonah had disobeyed God and was running away from him lol, he got on a ship and sailed to Spain. Then God sent a violent storm to the sea and the ship was in danger of breaking up. The sailors were terrified and cried out for help, they tried to lessen the load of the ship but that wasn’t working then they drew lots to find out who was to blame for getting them in danger and Jonah’s name was drawn. Jonah explained to them that he was the cause and that they should throw him into the sea and when they did the Bible recorded that at once the sea calmed down. (Jonah 1: 1-15).

So you see sometimes we are carrying the wrong people in our boats like the sailors and because of that things begin to fall apart or not just work out. And just like the sailors if you read the verse, we try to walk our way around it, and make up excuses, like what if we do this or do that maybe everything would be okay. Until we make up our minds and let go, things would NOT change. Trust God and follow where he leads you, he will not fail you. Save yourself, fulfill your destiny then help others. Say to them, I love you but I have to go. When things like this arise always ask God for a sign; what am I doing wrong? who do I have with me that their destiny doesn’t align with where you’re taking me? I’m not saying that you should cut these people off entirely and write them off or go crazy and labeled them bad luck because they are NOT! Learn from Abraham and end things peacefully. It’s not God’s plan, so together nothing will make sense until you let go!

Papillon

I’ve always had a sense of this but what completely sealed this for me was the movie Papillon coupled with the fact that it’s a true life story. So I had seen Papillon around the time when it was released about 3/4 years ago but didn’t really pay attention. So I had the opportunity of seeing it again last month and I just want to say everything felt different. If you haven’t seen the movie Papillon you should and if you have, even better, cuz mans not about to narrate a whole movie 😫.

So Papillon wasn’t suppose to remain in jail forever that wasn’t God‘s plan for him even the very first day he got there he kept saying I’m going to leave this place and started putting two and two together to plan his escape. But all his attempts to leave failed why because he kept trying to carry his really good friend Louis along with him. They had tried severally but it never worked out, one time on their escape God permitted a friction between him and one of the guys he was escaping with about Louis to have Louis throw into the sea 😫😂. Of course he wasn’t about to throw his best friend into the sea but that was God’s way of showing him that Louis wasn’t met to escape with him and guess what yet again they were caught and taken to an even worse cell this time. Finally, Papillon plans another escape and wanted to still carry Louis but Louis had adjusted to prison life and told Papi that he wasn’t interested, so Papi had to do this on his own as God intended and guess who made it falling off a cliff on a bag full of coconuts ? Yes Papillon!

All I am saying is, if something isn’t working out in your life, pray to God and listen to him. And when God shows you, let go!! I know it’s hard very difficult indeed but what’s more important that person/thing or your future?

Just as we have people that may hinder us from achieving our dreams or fulfilling God’s work in our lives, we also have people who would lead us to our dreams. This I would be discussing in my next post.

Warning: This is a very long post. 😭😂
